Whagaa Software Inc. and Santa Cruz Skateshop Announce the Launch of GoLearn Skateboarding™,
a Mobile Instructional Skateboarding Application for Windows© Phone 7
Santa Cruz, California – (January 6, 2011) Whagaa Software Inc., a developer of instructional applications for mobile devices, in collaboration with Microsoft, iLink, and Santa Cruz Skateshop, today announced the launch of GoLearn Skateboarding™, an instructional skateboarding application for Windows© Phone 7.
With GoLearn Skateboarding, enthusiasts can learn different tricks and tips, discover new skate parks, competently repair skateboards, and listen to their favorite tunes – all within the same app. The app leverages GPS technology to identify skate parks in close proximity to the skateboarder’s location.
GoLearn Skateboarding is perfect for skateboarders at any level, from beginning to expert. Skateboarders can learn tricks and tips from experts, learn proper safety procedures, and skateboard repair and maintenance. Even the most advanced skateboarder will find the techniques useful and the skate park locator invaluable when looking for great places to skate.
GoLearn Skateboarding includes: (1) short high definition skateboarding tips and tricks videos that include slow motion, multiple angles and detailed instructions, that can be used to learn the tricks or as an instant refresher before skating; and (2) a database of over 5,000 skate parks in the U.S., with contact information and GPS guided directions. For any skateboarder, this application is like a having a teaching pro at your side.
“Our perception of the functionality a skateboarder wants comes from a lifetime of skateboarding involvement. Skaters want to see different tricks performed by different people in different places. By watching Josh Mattson walk you through how to do a Board Varial, or by reviewing an intimate discussion of how to re-thread a truck axle, it’s as if we are speaking directly to each skater. Couple that with the GPS-driven skate park locator for the traveling skater, and the GoLearn Skateboarding application is unparalleled in today’s market. Our partnership with Whagaa is an exciting one allowing us to transform our vision of Action Sport applications into reality,” comments Danny Keith, CEO of Santa Cruz Skate Shop. This release of GoLearn Skateboarding is the first of many new and exciting applications that will be brought to market via the partnership of Whagaa and Santa Cruz Skate Shop.
“Windows Phone 7 offers a variety of quality apps and games, created by our rich developer ecosystem, that take advantage of the phone’s unique features and design,” said Todd Brix, senior director, Windows Phone Marketplace, Microsoft Corp. “GoLearn Skateboarding is a perfect example of the kind of rich applications that people will find on Windows Phone Marketplace to get the most out of their phone,” he continued.
“The Windows Phone 7 platform can take rich instructional content from VHS, DVD, or the Internet and accelerate the development of mobile apps. Whagaa believes that GoLearn Skateboarding is unique because it leverages the combination of instructional content, database capabilities, Internet access, and GPS to enhance the user experience beyond simply replaying video content. These technologies come together to provide a slick solution that resides on the same device that the skateboarder uses to listen to his or her favorite tunes. We are extremely excited by both the launch of GoLearn Skateboarding as well as the future potential of similar applications from our partnership with Santa Cruz Skate Shop,” comments Erik Florio, CEO/Founder of Whagaa.
