SAN DIEGO, CA – (February 1, 2012) – LaCantina Doors (LaCantina) are not only stylish and functional but they are built to stand up to whatever Mother Nature throws at them. A strong testament to its exhaustive design process, the company recently received an overall performance rating of DP70 for its Aluminum Thermally Controlled product line.

Pending approval from Miami Dade County, LaCantina’s Impact Rated system met and exceeded the performance requirements set forth by the organization which tests products designed and manufactured to comply with requirements of the Florida Building Code including the High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ)

  • Large Missile Impact test procedures
    • Uniform Static Air Pressure Loading testing for impact and non impact resistant building envelope components
    • Cyclic Wind Pressure Loading test procedures
    • Water Infiltration and Resistance test procedures, dynamic and passive
    • Forced entry test procedures

LaCantina Doors’ new Impact system is available exclusively with the Aluminum Thermally Controlled bi-fold doors. LaCantina Doors Impact Rated Aluminum Thermally Controlled system defines contemporary design while providing the ultimate performance in HVHZ conditions and other wind-borne areas with an outstanding DP70 rating.

LaCantina’s Impact Rated system is offered in a range of configurations, multiple sill types and two glass options – all suited for the most severe climates and weather conditions. The Aluminum Thermally Controlled bi-fold door, LaCantina’s first to include the impact rated system, is the result of an extensive design process focused on energy efficiency, structural and water resistance performance, versatility and value. LaCantina’s Aluminum Thermally Controlled doors will transform and blur the distinction between indoor and outdoor spaces and traditional architectural lines for any home, room or office.

“LaCantina Doors is able to provide homeowners and businesses with a trusted and dependable alternative to create new, aesthetically pleasing indoor and outdoor spaces,” noted Lee Maughan, General Manager, LaCantina Doors, Inc. “LaCantina Doors will enhance lifestyles by creating spectacular living areas and innovating open spaces. As a result of their DP70 rating, LaCantina Doors are designed to comply with the stringent Florida Building Codes and for use in other wind-borne areas outside the High Velocity Hurricane Zone.
