New WiMP for Android out today- more musical inspiration, now also for tablets

Music Service WiMP has recently released new versions for use on computers, iPhone, and iPad, with many improvements related to music discovery and editorial content. Today, it’s the the lucky day for mobile users of the ever-growing Android operating system. They get the new WiMP, featuring a complete redesign with full tablet support, new homepage with editorial content and recommendations, more photos, descriptions, album reviews, improved search functionality, improved offline support, new sharing options and much more.

According to IDC 3 of 4 mobile phones now has an Android operating system.
 
“We are really glad to launch what we believe is the best music service in the world for the world’s largest mobile OS, Android”, says Head of Product and CEO of WiMP in Norway, Per Einar Dybvik. “We’ve had more users on iPhone so far, but we expect to get many new Android-users going forward,” he adds.

WiMP has local music editors in each country, who all day every day provide WiMP-users with tips and recommendations with anything from new music to larger reviews of the old favorites you had forgotten about. WiMP also has a number of larger editorial activities, for instance WiMP Live Sessions – live concerts recorded and later released in WiMP.

New WiMP for Android makes it that much easier to enjoy the content of this and other editorial activities on the go, where users can easily find WiMP-editors daily tips and recommendations.

In addition WiMP has integrated much more artist information, more album descriptions, artist biographies, artist pictures, album reviews, related albums, critic favorites and reviews. Offline handling is also improved and a better search functionality let users search the playlists from WiMP-editors, artists, and WiMP-users. The s
haring feature is also improved.

In addition, users of Android tablets, about to reach significant market share according to IDC, can now also use WiMP for the first time.

WiMP is available in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany, and the Netherlands under a different brand, and will launch in Poland soon. WiMP has won numerous awards and consumer tests and has received much praise for its editorial content.
