WiMP launches own channel with free model in Poland and sign second partner, Play
Music streaming service WiMP today launches its commercial version in Poland, after experiencing an immense popularity of its beta version. WiMP simultaneously also opens its second partnership in Poland with mobile operator Play, following the already live cooperation with pay-tv provider platform n.
WiMP initiated its beta version at the European Music Fair in late November and the designated limit of free accounts was exceeded after only a month of activity. A survey conducted amongst its beta users saw over 2 000 people answering, of which 97% were satisfied with the service and 95% declared their willingness to use the service in the future.
Today, WiMP opens the commercial version in Poland, with three versions of the product, the free and ad-free limited test version available on desktop computers, WiMP Basic with unlimited access for desktop computers at 9,99 PLN and WiMP Premium with mobile access for 19,99 PLN.
“We are very optimistic about today’s commercial launch of WiMP as well as the future development of our service in Poland. We are very pleased with the consumer survey’s results of WiMP’s beta phase, which were one of the highest in Europe. We managed to gain strong business partners, such as the digital platform n and network operator Play, Thus we have a strong reason to believe that, such as in other countries, we will achieve a great success in Poland,” said Adrian Ciepichał, General Manager, WiMP Poland.
WiMP in Poland is, as in all other countries, tailored to the local market with local language, local music and locally prepared editorial content featuring the best of international and Polish music. From the respondents in the beta survey, 94% of beta users said to be happy with the catalogue, currently counting 20 million licensed tracks.
WiMP stands out from other streaming services because of its richly developed editorial profile, handmade recommendations tailored for local users, musical curiosities as well as playlists for every occasion, prepared by the international and local editorial staff. WiMP gives you tips and music guidance and makes it easy to find musical inspiration. The WiMP editors continuously update the service with what’s new and present reviews of the huge music catalogue. Users will quickly find WiMP editorial tips and recommendations made visible with pictures, descriptive texts, links to related music and overviews of different types of playlists, albums and songs in different genres.
WiMP in Poland already cooperates with pay-tv provider platform n, who also provides WiMP on TV with their set top boxes. Now, WiMP also adds a partnership with network operator Play, who also offers their customers free data usage included with the purchase of WiMP. Play is the fastest growing mobile operator in Poland and has over 8,2 million subscribers. Play is the market leader in mobile internet and focuses on smart phones, 4G and the principle of more for a better price.
