Clean and Green: Winterhalter’s Latest Eco Warewasher
New Winterhalter DeMatik Pi-240 hybrid warewasher has a built-in water treatment system to ensure best possible results without compromising sustainability
Water treatment is essential to ensure the best warewashing results. In the past manufacturers have offered various water treatments, from reverse osmosis (RO) to simple water softeners. Although the combination of RO, chemicals and machine produces outstanding wash results, it can stretch beyond some customers’ budgets and uses more water than simple water softeners.
This year at Hotelympia, Winterhalter will launch its brand new undercounter warewasher, the DeMatik Pi240 with integral water treatment system, a solution for customers who require exceptional wash results but not necessarily the absolute finish of RO. Its compact size makes it ideal for bars and kitchens looking to save space.
The DeMatik’s outstanding feature is its ability to produce close-to RO results, using much less water - making it even more sustainable than previous Winterhalter models. Typically the DeMatik uses between 40 and 60% less water than a conventional RO system. Meanwhile its Eco mode will reduce energy consumption by up to 11%.
The DeMatik saves time, too, since although its regeneration agent will need refilling occasionally, this is a simple process customers can do themselves.
The modern hospitality sector demands a high standard of health and safety, and hygiene is crucial to this. The DeMatik’s closed system has no cartridges to change, ensuring a practically bacteria-free and sterile water circuit for the highest levels of health and hygiene.
During peak periods of service, staff can sometimes make mistakes that cost time. Warewashers need the correct water treatment agent to be added, otherwise permanent damage may occur. To ensure its reliability, the DeMatik Pi240 has an electronic detection system, which means it will only allow the correct agent to be added.
The starting price for Winterhalter’s new DeMatik Pi-240 hybrid warewasher is £5,300. It is available in four different sizes, small, medium, large and extra large. The glasswashers can process up to 48 racks per hour, and dishwashers 40 racks per hour, with racks ranging in size from 400x400mm in the small model to 500x540mm in the extra large.
The DeMatik is part of Winterhalter's IRT (Intelligent Resource Technology) project, aimed at reducing the consumption of water, power and chemicals in warewashing. The machines will be available through authorised dealers.
Winterhalter provides a total solution for warewashing, from pre-sales advice to after-sales service, training and maintenance. Alongside its market-leading dish and glasswashers, the company’s range includes utensil washers, advanced water treatment machines, cleaning chemicals and detergents.
