Extreme recycling

Winterhalter warewashers are 98% recyclable

Although Winterhalter warewashers are built to last – on average they will run for at least 10 years if looked after properly, and there are some instances of them going on for 30 years or more – there will come a point when they need to be replaced and go for disposal.

The current climate of sustainability and conservation of the earth’s resources encourages recycling of materials and the company is keen to point out that a Winterhalter warewasher is truly a resource- friendly option.  The technology exists for a specialist recycling plant to recover about 98% of the machine in useful materials.

About 70% of each machine is made up of stainless steel. This can all be recovered and recycled. The copper and sheet metal packages of pumps are also fully recyclable. The plastics can be used as shredder material. Electronics and elastomer parts can generally be recycled, if necessary using thermal recycling (incineration) for elastomers. This leaves about 2% by weight of the original warewasher that can’t be recycled.

“Winterhalter warewashers have already proved themselves to be the environment friendly choice, through their range of energy efficient technologies that also cut water and chemical consumption,” says Paul Crowley of Winterhalter. “Now, through their extreme recyclability, these green credentials have been extended beyond active service.”

Winterhalter provides a total solution for warewashing, from pre-sales advice to after-sales service, training and maintenance.  Alongside its market-leading dish and glasswashers, the company’s range includes utensil washers, advanced water treatment machines, cleaning chemicals and detergents.  For further details, call Winterhalter on 01908 359000, see www.winterhalter.co.uk, or www.winterhalter-scout.biz or email info@winterhalter.co.uk.
