Host Milan: Winterhalter wins the SMART Label Award 2015
PT ClimatePlus passthrough warewasher convinces judges of prestigious award.

Winterhalter, the specialist warewashing manufacturer, has won a “SMART Label Award” for its new PT ClimatePlus passthrough warewasher. The SMART Label is awarded in the run up to Host, Milan, the foodservice equipment industry’s leading international trade show.
For Host 2015, nine winners were chosen from 146 entrants. The SMART Label is awarded to highly innovative products that stand out from the crowd for their forward-looking features, and set new trends in the industry.
Winterhalter’s PT ClimatePlus is the first rack passthrough in the world with an integrated heat pump. Judges said they were very impressed that this warewasher doesn’t heat up the kitchen – quite the opposite: it actually cools it down. What’s more, it cuts energy consumption by 53%, compared to a conventional model.
According to Winterhalter, the ClimatePlus is a whole new concept in warewashing. “Not only does it clean dishes, brilliantly, it also acts as an air-conditioning system that releases cool, dry air into the kitchen,” says Paul Crowley, marketing manager of Winterhalter UK. “What’s more, no hot steam escapes when the hood is opened at the end of the wash cycle.”
The technology inside the PT ClimatePlus captures waste heat from the hot steam in the interior of the machine as well as from the warm air in the kitchen, recycling it to heat up the tank and rinse water.
When the kitchen air temperature reaches 25°C, the ClimatePlus releases itsclean exhaust air, which is dehumidified and cooled to around 18°C, back into the room.
“The ClimatePlus sets new standards in improving the kitchen environment,” says Paul. “With 53%energy savings,it sets standards when it comes to operating costs, too.”
