Winterhalter’s new PT Series warewashers offer schools a fast, exceptionally clean wash while keeping costs down

Brilliant warewashers go to school

A recent poll collated by the Children’s Food Trust shows that school meal take-up in England is on the rise for the fourth year in a row*. The knock on effect of this is that there is escalating pressure on the warewashing side of the catering operation to cope with increased throughput while keeping costs down.

Winterhalter’s new PT Series passthrough warewashers tick all the boxes for money conscious school catering managers. The PT Series is the market’s first with energy-saving heat exchange technology fitted as standard. The system extracts energy from the waste water, using it to heat up the incoming cold water supply, reducing energy costs by up to 10%. An energy control system speeds up the washing process, increasing rack capacity per hour by 28% and reducing heat-up time by 50%. The speed of the system means the PT is ready for action faster than conventional passthroughs, allowing back-to-back rack washing, which will be a huge bonus for busy school kitchens.

Sophisticated filtration and monitoring systems constantly clean the washwater to ensure it is clear of impurities, delivering brilliant wash results while minimising water consumption. Large clear touch-activated pictograms set the wash program in motion, while visual and audio alarms let staff know instantly if there are any problems, such as a blocked wash field or lack of detergent, to minimise downtime and keep the warewashing operation running smoothly.

Initially there are two machines in the range, the PT-M (medium) and the PT-L (large). Their theoretical capacity is up to 77 racks per hour for glasswashing and 72 per hour for dishwashing.
