Wirepas has partnered with US-based Rigado, who offers a ready-to-run Gateway for Wirepas Connectivity. Rigado’s configurable IoT Gateway allows customers to customize a gateway solution with the exact wireless protocols, edge compute and connectivity options their use case requires. The Rigado gateway options include low power wireless routing and packet forwarding to the cloud as well as onboard processing capabilities.  Utilizing the local storage and Linux-based edge applications - with built-in support for many popular cloud services - customers can quickly adapt the software on the gateway for their own IoT application.

  • Large-scale industrial and commercial IoT applications are gaining significant momentum, especially in terms of connected devices. As companies begin adopting scalable mesh networking for smart lighting, asset tracking, and more, it is truly exciting to be able to offer Wirepas Connectivity on our IoT Gateway, extending the possibilities and reach of Rigado’s low-power wireless solutions, Ben Corrado, CEO of Rigado says.

Wirepas and Rigado are focused on industrial and commercial scale Smart Lighting and Asset Management applications where flexible connectivity requirements are paramount. Together, the Wirepas wide area mesh connectivity and Rigado’s customizable Gateway are able to meet the scale and reliability demands of Industrial IoT deployments.

  • Rigado is a very important addition to our growing ecosystem. IoT, even industrial IoT, is a combination of many different use cases with totally different requirements for connectivity. That is exactly why a customizable gateway makes perfect sense. For our partners and customers, Rigado’s IoT Gateway enables an easy-to-deploy solution, Wirepas CEO, Teppo Hemiä says.

Rigado’s IoT Gateway includes a robust development environment to make creating and deploying applications easy. Gateways are pre-loaded with Node-RED, and developers can also deploy node.js, python, Java, or compiled applications.  Using the Rigado cloud based software deployment tool, DeviceOps, and the Wirepas mesh management platform, customers can manage their system deployments remotely.

Rigado offers multiple branding and enclosure options depending on the application. Gateways can be customized with customer’s own brand identity in the standard indoor and waterproof IP67 rated enclosures – or built into custom enclosures.

Wirepas in brief

Wirepas is focused on providing the most reliable, optimized, scalable and easy to use device connectivity for its customers. Wirepas Connectivity is a de-centralized radio communications protocol that can be used in any device, with any radio chip and on any radio band. With Wirepas Connectivity there is no need for traditional repeaters because every wireless device is a smart router of the network. The connected devices form the network – easy as that. Wirepas has its headquarters in Tampere, Finland and offices in Australia, France, Germany, South Korea, the UK and the United States.
