New custom passport give Swedish companies less trouble The Swedish public company Sign On and the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce makes a joint effort to reduce the difficulties Swedish companies have with custom administration. The old custom passports will now be replaced by electronic documents that can both be filled in, signed and delivered over Internet. Custom passports, or the ATA carnet, are international documents that simplify import of goods to some fifty countries. When using an ATA carnet there are no corporate deposits or import fees. - Using our technology the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce have been able to make its administration more efficient, but at the same time it has raised the service level for all companies who are trading across the boarders. All handling has become much easier with the use of our standardized electronic forms, says Andreas Halvarsson, vice president at Sign On. It is Sign On's world leading technology and the new law from January 2001 which equals hand written signatures with electronic signatures that have made this pilot project possible. - Some ten Swedish companies have been offered to attend the pilot project and will use the electronic forms and signatures to fill in the ATA document, according to Nicklas Lundblad, Managing Director at the Stockholm E-Chamber of Commerce.
