Wolverine launches the Guardian Project, introduces wildland firefighter Garth Levin as 2013 Ambassador
Wolverine, the makers of dependably rugged boots since 1883, is pleased to introduce the Wolverine Guardian Project and firefighter Garth Levin as 2013 Ambassador. The program is a partnership between the brand and people who work outdoors and are dedicated to guarding, protecting and serving the outdoor spaces on which communities depend. The goal of the partnership is to achieve a deeper understanding of the specific product needs of those serving in these demanding positions.
Wolverine has partnered with more than 50 passionate individuals, from wildland firefighters and search and rescue volunteers to wildlife researchers and outdoor advocates. A driven and determined group who have answered the call of the outdoors full-time, these Guardians are shepherds and stewards who are creating, maintaining, repairing, educating and guiding so that others can continue to explore and enjoy the outdoors.
“Partnering with Guardians allows us to gain valuable feedback on product performance and in-depth knowledge of essential product features for these perilous environments and activities,” said Kelly Redinger, Wolverine Marketing Director. “We incorporate this insight into our design and development process so we can continue making outdoor footwear that meets the demands of their challenging work.”
Wolverine has selected Garth Levin, a wildland and structural firefighter and an exemplarily example of what it takes to be a true Guardian of the outdoors, as the Guardian Project’s 2013 Ambassador. [Learn more and watch a video about Guardian Ambassador Garth Levin at Wolverine.com.]
“Footwear is paramount in my line of work,” Levin said. “I am so pleased to be part of the Wolverine Guardian Project and have the opportunity to influence specific product designs that will benefit those who work outdoors. I’m honored to partner with Wolverine as this year’s Guardian Ambassador.”
The 2014 Guardian Ambassador will be announced at the end of this year.
