As part of a complete revamp of its editorial environment, the Corriere del Ticino, the leading newspaper in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, completed the migration to WoodWing's multi-channel publishing system Enterprise. The publication is available in print, on the Web and as an e-paper on tablets and smartphones. For the efficient management of the tremendous file stocks, the publisher selected WoodWing's digital asset management solution Elvis DAM, which can be easily integrated with Enterprise. In addition to the Corriere del Ticino, the publisher has also been creating two more titles with the new system. The overall responsibility for the implementation lay in the hands of A&F Computersysteme AG, WoodWing´s Authorized Diamond Solution Partner in Switzerland.

Zaandam, The Netherlands (September 3, 2014) – One of Switzerland’s leading newspapers has made the switch to WoodWing. The Corriere del Ticino is published by Centro Stampa Ticino SA, a leading newspaper publisher in Switzerland, located in the Ticion region. For the third time in the last 20 years, the publisher migrated its complete editorial environment in order to leverage state-of-the-art technology. In addition to all the hardware – including all servers and clients – the application side also got a revamp, including the editorial system, the ad solution and the archive. During the migration, the team also switched to Adobe InDesign and InCopy.

To ensure a highly efficient and future-proof workflow, the publisher selected WoodWing's multi-channel publishing system Enterprise and its editorial management application Content Station. In order to handle the fast-growing number of media files in the most efficient manner, WoodWing´s digital asset management solution Elvis DAM was chosen. The system is designed to efficiently manage very high data volumes and is seamlessly integrated with WoodWing Enterprise.

Open architecture helps in comprehensive integration
At Corriere del Ticino, WoodWing Enterprise has been tightly integrated with the ad production system AdfS2 by the Swiss company Projektmanagement Medici AG, and with the page planning application Timone by Tell, based in Italy. The e-paper editions for tablets and smartphones are produced with the digital publishing solution by D-Share, which has also been integrated with Enterprise. The open architecture of WoodWing´s solutions ensures maximum flexibility for integration with third-party applications such as these.

80 seats at five locations
Currently, the implementation encompasses 80 seats, located at the publisher’s headquarters in Muzzano and four external editorial locations that are connected via Citrix solutions.

"WoodWing´s solutions play a central role in our new and highly efficient production environment,” said Stefano Soldati, Director of Centro Stampa Ticino. "Through their media-neutral approach, they provide the future-proof basis for the adaptation of upcoming media technologies. Our goal is the highly automated feed of all media channels.”

The overall responsibility for the implementation lay in the hands of A&F Computersysteme AG. WoodWing awarded its Swiss integration partner with Diamond status for both Enterprise and Elvis DAM – hence the team is the most successful WoodWing Authorized Solution Partner worldwide. "We are proud that we were asked to carry out this implementation at the largest daily newspaper in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland," said Urs Felber, CEO of A&F Computer Systems AG. "The complete renewal both in the fields of infrastructure and applications represented a major challenge. The high complexity required meticulous planning and implementation and was a prerequisite for the successful completion of the project."

"The complete change of the editorial environment at the Corriere del Ticino proves once again how easy our solutions can be implemented thanks to their openness and flexibility," said Jeroen Sonnemans, Managing Director WoodWing Europe. "We are happy that with Corriere del Ticino, we were able to support another leading newspaper as it adapts to the challenges of modern publishing.”

Two more titles converted to WoodWing
In addition to the publisher´s flagship title Corriere del Ticino, its publications Giornale del Popolo and Azione also converted to the WoodWing environment. The newspaper Giornale del Popolo is published in print and Web editions, as well as for tablets and smartphones. Azione is the weekly newspaper of Migros Ticino, a regional cooperative of Migros, the largest retail company in Switzerland.
