Wooga Announces New Studio, Black Anvil Games - Independent Studio Focused on Creating Core Mobile Games
- First title Warlords to be released in summer 2016
Berlin, 10th March 2016: Wooga is excited to announce the formation of Black Anvil Games: While Wooga will sharpen its focus on exclusively creating casual games, the new studio will work independently alongside Wooga to produce mobile games for a core gaming audience. Black Anvil Games will also feature a dedicated team that will work closely and engage with the growing number of passionate mobile gamers around the world.
“Building a brand that gamers can relate to will help Black Anvil Games establish itself in a very competitive segment of mobile games. While the team will have full access to Wooga’s proven expertise in terms of go-to-market, the studio can focus solely on creating full-on core gaming experiences on mobile”, commented Jens Begemann, Wooga Founder & CEO. Black Anvil Games will be lead by Head of Studio Wilhelm Oesterberg, who has been running an internal studio at Wooga for the 5 years previous.
Black Anvil Games will launch their first game in the coming months - a strategy title called Warlords. Warlords is a tactical battle game where players take direct control of their fantasy armies to try to outsmart their opponents. As they rise through the ranks, players can grow and upgrade their regiments to match their personal play style. Warlords stands out on the app marketplaces with fast-paced yet deeply tactical turn-based gameplay, while offering deep progression, guilds and a ranking system.
