World RX of Argentina preview
Signing the season off with a smile
What a season. What an unbelievable season. I can’t believe this is the last time I’m going to talk to you guys for a while on a Wednesday! What am I going to do in the winter?
Don’t worry. There are lots of cars to drive and lots of fuel in the tank.
But this week, it’s South America and San Luis in Argentina. It’s quite strange going from the start of a Scandinavian winter to 32 degrees… and rain! I heard that it’s possible we can have some rain during the race this week, that would make it a little bit interesting.
To be honest, when you close the door and pull first gear, the weather doesn’t really matter so much – it’s all about the lights, then the flag and who gets there first. Having said that, the rain can make it really, really tricky to see when you have a lot of mud coming in the windscreen. But in 30 degrees, maybe the mud will have dried by the time it hits the screen!
It’s great to welcome a new team-mate to PSRX in Manfred Stohl. We have known each other and been friends for a long time. He’s a good guy and a quick driver, maybe we should be looking for the first PSRX double podium of the season, that would be a good way to end what has been an incredible year.
With the championship won, my approach will be the same as it was in Turkey, just to go flat-out. No pressure, no worries, not thinking about anything except for winning as many heats and races as we can. It’s fantastic to be able to go to the start knowing this is in your mind. And you know me, you know that I will be grinning like crazy inside that car.
This week we’re all about signing off the season with a big smile.
Once we have done this race, then we go back to planning and thinking more to next season and what we will be doing. At the moment, nothing is certain, nothing is decided, not which car, which championship or even which sport we will be competing in. We have some ideas, some offers and some more talking to do.
We’ll let you know when we know.

Last time out…
An engine problem ruled the World Rallycross Champion out of the final last time out. But it didn’t stop him reaching the final and maintaining his 100 per cent record of getting to the last race of the weekend – Petter’s the only driver to have done that all year.
