The World Champion’s guide to Intercity Istanbul Park
World Champion. Two words. But, you know, I’m still not sure it has completely gone in yet. The feeling is just incredible. Like I told you in Italy, this is my dream and I must say, I feel a little bit like I am still dreaming!
Maybe the best way to wake up from the dream is to get back into the PSRX Citroen DS3 Supercar and drop the clutch. Nearly 600bhp will wake me up! And that’s what I’m going to do in Turkey next week.
So, to Istanbul and Intercity Park. The circuit is actually quite a long way outside of Istanbul. In fact, it’s on another continent! We will be racing on the east side of the Bosphorus strait, which marks the edge of Europe. For the first time this season, we’ll be in Asia. This is as far east as we go. And it’s possible this will be one of the most popular races – with 14 million people living nearby. Istanbul is the world’s fifth biggest city in terms of population. That’s unbelievable!
Turkey is a great place to go for the first time as winners of the 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship. And I promise everybody, my speed and commitment will be just as much as ever. In fact, it will be more.
After Italy, we had a meeting with the team and we talked about the way to play Turkey and Argentina, the final two races of the season, and you know, we all decided that we are going to only way we know: flat out. For a few months now, I guess since the start of the season, I have been driving to make points and with one eye on the championship. Well, now we have the championship in our hands – so we can use both eyes to be fastest through every corner of every lap.
We are going to push like hell. This is the moment I have been waiting for. No pressure, no points to worry about, just flat out.
