Typhoon Haiyan: thank you for your incredible support

On the anniversary of Typhoon Haiyan, we've made a special video to update you on the thousands of animals and people you have enabled us to help in the Philippines over the past year

One year ago on November 8, 2013, the strongest recorded typhoon in history swept across the Philippines, causing mass devastation to communities and their animals.  Within days, our disaster teams in Costa Rica and Thailand were dispatched.

Working across several islands, we treated thousands of animals, providing vaccinations, supplying food and vitamins, and treating wounds and injuries.  Thanks to your incredible support, we were able to treat over 17,000 animals in the immediate weeks and months after the typhoon.

Re-building communities

Since the immediate response work has ended, we have been helping to prepare communities and their animals for the future.  We have trained local vets in disaster response and distributed emergency vet kits.  And we have demonstrated how to build underground and typhoon resistant shelters that can be used to house animals quickly and safely, before a disaster strikes.  Thanks to your ongoing support we have now helped a total of 70,000 animals in immediate response and recovery work in the Philippines.

Thank you

We were recently back in the Philippines and made this special video, to thank you for everything you have helped us achieve for animals and communities in the last year.  It's presented by Gerardo Huertas, our Director of Disaster Management for Latin America.  Click Here to see the video.
