New Appointment - Head of UK Region

WYG is pleased to announce the appointment of Glen Thorn as Head of the UK Region with immediate effect.  Reporting to the Executive Board, Glen will have full management and profit and loss responsibility for the collective UK capabilities. Glen joined WYG earlier this year as Managing Director of Buildings & Infrastructure where his focus was to strengthen WYG’s position in the domestic infrastructure market and build further successes with the Group’s clients and partners.
Past experience includes his role as Executive Director of Halcrow’s Transportation Business Group Worldwide, where he was responsible for the strategic direction and operational leadership of their £200 million turnover business employing circa 1,700 employees around the world.  Glen has 30 years’ experience of delivering major projects in the UK and internationally.
Graham Olver, Chief Operating Officer, WYG Group said: “We are delighted that Glen is taking this role.  We have all experienced a difficult few years and we are about to open a new chapter in our history; we have the potential and talent to create a better, more prosperous WYG and Glen's track record and collaborative style will give all of us a chance to explore and participate in determining the way to an exciting and rewarding future.”
Glen Thorn, Head of Region UK, WYG said: “I’m delighted to be given the chance to take on this leadership role in what is a crucial period for WYG as a whole.  Moving from ‘red to black’, in terms of our financial performance, demonstrates that all the hard work and commitment of WYG staff in the last few years is now bearing fruit.”
He added: “My main focus is to continue to build on this momentum and really push the definition and implementation of the business strategy in order that we deliver the financial and business objectives of the UK Region.  A priority will be to strengthen our offering in our chosen markets and drive growth for the remainder of this year and next.

I’m really looking forward to driving a collaborative ‘One WYG’ working environment and delivering the WYG overarching strategy for the benefit of all staff.”
