Road designs provide investment opportunities to Poland
Investment opportunities open up for provinces of eastern Poland as designs are completed for a €23m ring-road around Końskie in central Poland.
The development, which is expected to start later this month, involves building four kilometers of new road and modernisations to the provincial road No 728. This will include widening and strengthening of the road allowing for heavier loads to be transported and improving the capacity and speed of transit traffic on the route.
Led by Świętokrzyski Administration of Provincial Roads, (regional roads administration of Świętokrzyskie Province), part of the project includes designs, provided by international multi-disciplinary consultancy WYG, for a footbridge spanning the lake in the tourist town of Sielpia.
Andrzej Dziurdzik, Director of WYG in Poland, said: “We are delighted to be contributing to such an important development for the region. The project will certainly increase the investment attractiveness of the area by improving the ease and accessibility for traffic in provinces of eastern Poland. The 158-kilometer road will connect international and transport infrastructure corridors of three Polish provinces including the S7 junction on Grójec (Mazowieckie Province) with the national road No 78 in Jędrzejów (Świętokrzyskie Province) leading through two districts of Łódź Province.
“Furthermore, the new road will increase road safety in Końskie through reducing traffic in the city centre. Drivers will go around the twenty-thousand-inhabitant city rather than driving through, which will also improve traffic in Końskie and reduce risks caused by the transport of hazardous materials, such as liquid fuel, between Końskie and Barycz.”
Rafał Ziętal, Production Preparation Manager, Świętokrzyski Administration of Provincial Roads, said: “Nowadays, construction of bypasses is one of the most urgent investment issues. Through roads within towns and cities constitute a danger to the functioning of the city and the safety of its inhabitants. The civil engineering design provided by WYG determined the most suitable solutions which will allow improvements to be introduced and ensure a correct course of construction works.”
Since 2008, WYG has been providing a range of services the Świętokrzyski Administration of Provincial Roads, from environmental advice and designing the footbridge to the civil engineering design of the road extension.
The project has recently gone out to tender for construction of the road and is hoped to be complete by autumn of 2013.
