WYG appoints new RD to diversify its geo-environment offering
International multi-disciplinary consultancy, WYG has appointed, with effect from 21 May 2012, Dr Cecilia Macleod as a regional director in its Geo-environment division.
Cecilia’s initial focus will be to strengthen the company’s position in the industrial, chemical, oil and financial sectors, building on existing work streams in these areas.
With more than 25 years experience working on ground and surface water contamination problems in both the UK and USA, a regular contributor to Brownfield Briefing, Environment Industry Magazine and Geodrilling International and widely recognised as a presenter at national conferences in the UK, Cecilia is a well known figure in the geo-environment arena.
Speaking about her new position, Cecilia said: “I am looking forward to taking up my new role promoting WYG’s existing expertise within the industrial, chemical and oil sectors and thus helping with the company’s ongoing diversification of its current geo-environment service offerings.
“Until April 2011, I was technical director of remediation at Arcadis and was a member of the Arcadis Global Knowledge Transfer Network, participating in the delivery of training to both European and American colleagues in the fields of remediation and risk assessment. This, combined with my wide ranging environmental background, expertise in contamination and remediation related projects gives me a great foundation to bring this role to life.”
Marc Davies, Head of Geo-environment, WYG said: “We are delighted to have Cecilia join the business. Her expertise, together with that of our existing team of consultants, will enable us to position WYG at a more prominent level in our target markets.”
Cecilia will be presenting a Master Class session on water resource efficiency/management at the upcoming conference ‘Natural Environment 2012: Balancing Nature, Society and the Economy’ which is aimed at examining and debating the current Governments proposals to protect the environment for future generations and strengthening the economy in an environmentally sustainable way.
Cecilia started her career as a geologist at the Arco Oil and Gas research facility in Plano, Texas before joining the US Geological Survey. Moving to the UK in 1994, Cecilia initially worked at Imperial College and then the University of Greenwich, being actively involved on various research projects dealing with contamination and remediation, before joining Arcadis in 2003.
