Multi-disciplinary consultancy, WYG is pleased to announce two key appointments at their offices in Edinburgh. Richard Phillips joins as Director and Head of Planning in Scotland and Lisa Russell as Planning Associate. Together, Richard and Lisa will help strengthen the planning team based in Scotland.
Richard brings a wealth of experience to WYG, including managing and delivering major development projects. As a chartered town planner with almost 25 years experience in the public and private sector, he has spent the past 12 years in Scotland. He joins from Turley Associates where he spent five years as director and was responsible for delivering planning advice for a variety of new store developments for a leading retailer alongside other significant development projects.
Richard’s specialist areas include planning strategy, managing the planning process on major development projects, community consultation, preparing planning statements and retail assessments.
Lisa joins WYG after nearly seven years at Rapleys Commercial Property and Planning Consultancy where she was involved in a range of renewable energy, commercial and residential projects across Scotland, England and Northern Ireland. Prior to Rapleys, Lisa worked at Aberdeenshire Council and was instrumental in developing supplementary planning guidance for wind farms.
Richard Phillips said: ‘I'm delighted to be joining WYG. This is a great opportunity to use my skills and experience and strengthen the planning team in Edinburgh.’
He added: ‘My aim is to continue to provide independent, cost-effective and practical advice to existing WYG clients and to attract new business within Scotland, taking advantage of the very successful transport, environmental and management services teams already represented in the Edinburgh office.’
Gordon Buchan, Director for the Edinburgh office said: ‘I am delighted that Richard and Lisa have joined our Edinburgh office. They bring a great deal of experience and ability to further strengthen our growing planning team in Edinburgh. WYG is definitely growing north of the border and is picking up new commissions across all sectors as the economy recovers. I am extremely pleased that Richard, such a well known and respected figure in the Scottish planning scene, is here to help us drive the business forward.’
