WYG to support pan-government departments in meeting environmental standards

Global multi-disciplinary consultancy WYG has been appointed on the new pan-government Environmental and Sustainability Advice, Support and Delivery Services framework.

WYG was selected by the Government Procurement Service, an executive agency of the Cabinet Office, to support on two key lots that form part of the three-year framework which aims to help government departments meet their environmental and sustainability targets.

The framework agreement, established in collaboration with Defra, Natural England and the Environment Agency, covers a wide range of areas such as air quality, biodiversity, climate change, noise and statutory nuisances, waste, water and sustainability.  WYG was successful with the main built environment lot, which allows multi-disciplinary services to be delivered across a wide range of environmental and sustainability technical areas, as well as the specialist Landscape and Seascapes lot.

Steve Mustow, Planning & Environment Director, WYG said: “We are delighted to be appointed and will be available to provide professional and technical advice across a wide spectrum of specialist areas to help government bodies and other publicly funded organisations reduce environmental and social impact and embrace sustainability.”

Projects the award-winning consultancy could work on range from creating sustainable buildings and improving waste management facilities through to remediating major brownfield sites and safely managing asbestos in buildings.

Steve continued: “The services we provide could cover a wide spectrum from ecological surveys and environmental impact assessments, through to town planning advice, flood risk assessment and sustainable design. This will enable our public sector clients to meet legal requirements, achieve their targets for sustainable operation and deliver their services to the public in a way that maximises opportunities for sustainable development.

“This centralised procurement for major government departments and for use by wider public sector organisations provides savings for the UK public sector as a whole.

“Now that we are on the framework we can work for a range of public sector bodies and publicly funded organisations to lead, plan, support, provide training and planning support on a wide range of sustainability and environmental related activities and projects.”
