WYG welcomes new associate director to strengthen energy team

WYG is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Sjenitzer who has recently joined as Associate Director.  Based at the Cumbria office, Simon will be helping to establish the strategic direction of energy and climate change business within the energy team and will be responsible for joining up all relevant capabilities under one umbrella to create a unified approach for WYG’s clients.

Simon comments on current market conditions: ‘As highlighted by recent developments reported in the media, the imperatives of energy security and climate change are having a profound effect on all our lives, but this is also conversely providing significant growth in all areas of related Low and Zero carbon Technology (LZT).  Government policy and rising energy costs are driving the market and therefore our clients’ requirements.’

He added: ‘There are significant opportunities that we are already looking at including district heat networks, offshore wind and tidal, energy demand reduction and associated network infrastructure.  WYG’s energy team will also be looking at new business opportunities coming from the petrochemical and coal industries.’

Speaking on his appointment, Simon said: ‘This is an extremely exciting time to be joining WYG, and I’m greatly looking forward to working with the wider team.  I’m going to be re-invigorating WYG’s UK ‘Virtual Energy Forum’ in order to help coordinate our strategic approach to this sector as government policy continues to evolve and new opportunities emerge.’

John Kipling, Head of Energy said: ‘We are delighted to have secured this role with Simon who has been brought into a key strategic role to lead and develop our energy and climate change offering.  His additional skills of policy and economic development in relation to the low carbon sector will be a key asset to our team and the WYG business.’
