Wyld Networks fulfils obligations to European Space Agency (ESA) to develop satellite-to-satellite connectivity with Eutelsat and Thales
Wyld Networks have delivered the LoRaWAN satellite-to-satellite connectivity solution as part of a joint ESA-sponsored programme with Eutelsat and Thales for telemetry and control to support satellite IoT networks.
Wyld have used LoRa CSS and LoRa FHSS protocols to establish bi-directional communication with satellites and ground stations. As part of the program, Wyld’s IoT module is being built into low earth orbiting satellites to provide radio connectivity. Wyld have now delivered this technology to the programme.
Satellite-to-satellite connectivity will not only improve command and control for LEO satellites but reduce costs of command and control. It will also expedite the time for data to be delivered from sensor to user application and so reduce latency and enable more use cases across more business verticals.
“This important project will develop new Low Earth Orbiting satellite-to-satellite communication capabilities,” said Alastair Williamson, CEO of Wyld Networks. “We have delivered this in-space LoRaWAN communication capability to the ESA program which will reduce the number of satellites required for coverage.”
