Manage crew from the cloud

With cloud computing technology having an increasing impact on daily life, its no surprise that more and more companies are turning to the cloud and the superyacht industry is no different.

i-Bos Ltd, a crew management software provider is one of the first companies to launch their software to the cloud for the superyacht sector.

i-Bos Ltd’s Cello Marine software is already used on 250 superyachts to assist in crew management, proving its need at sea.  Now the system can be accessed anywhere via the company’s cloud.

Cloud software has quickly become engrained in everyday life, from online services such as email and shopping, to online banking; today, interaction through the cloud isn’t given a second thought and now superyacht companies have jumped on board ‘the cloud bandwagon’.

Martyn Cain, at i-Bos Ltd spoke to Yachting Pages and explained, “The main benefit of using Cello Marine on the cloud is access. Yacht managers can now access crew information, payroll, yacht information and reports from the office, their home, departure lounges… anywhere they can get an internet connection.

“With no installation time and automatic updates, we have already seen a reduction in response times to action captain’s requests thanks to Cello Marine Dashboard’s seamlessly integrated module for captains.”

By only taking up the server space the program requires, cloud based document management not only saves space on company servers, but also saves energy and can be known to reduce energy consumption up to 30%. (Compared to on-site servers)

When talking to Yachting Pages, Martyn added, “With superyachts relying on cloud-based software, complex disaster recovery plans become a thing of the past, our cloud software automatically creates secure backups meaning that your crew’s data is more secure than ever before.

“This new cloud access gives you everything that is already available on the i-Bos desktop system, and seamlessly integrates with our dashboard module allowing captains to download copies of reports, MLC 2006 documents and crew certificates and passports.”

Since their incorporation in 2005, i-Bos Ltd has been at the forefront of marine administration and payroll, bringing all yacht administration into one secure system.

i-Bos Ltd’s Cello Marine software uses automation tools and can store an unlimited amount of crew documents including registration, certificates and passport information.
