Yamato’s Lee Smith plans Ride100 London for Action Medical Research
Lee Smith, Yamato’s Aftersales and Commercial Manager, is set to take part in the charity cycling race in August 2015, raising essential funds for the infant and children’s charity, Action Medical Research.
The charity has been funding medical breakthroughs since they began in 1952 and almost everyone has been touched in some way by their ground breaking work, such as the first UK polio vaccines. Medical research to help children is poorly funded in the UK and Action Medical Research has a critical job to do in helping fill this gap to help save and change children’s lives.
Cyclist enthusiast Lee, who frequently engages in fundraising activities, will set out from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on the 2nd of August, on a 100 mile, closed road ride through Surrey Hills, the infamous Boxhill and back to London’s centres for the grand Mall finale.
“This will be my first time taking place in this sort of event, and I’m hoping to finish it in around 5 hours with my friends and co-cyclists from the Alba Rosa Cycling Club,” says Lee. “Any donations big or small will be greatly appreciated for my chosen charity Action Medical Research, who are dedicated to improving the health of babies and children.”
Action Medical Research currently has more than £11 million invested in the work of 230 top researchers, across 75 projects in the UK. They have played a significant role in many medical breakthroughs for over 60 years.
