The new business premises concept YIT Workery+ to expand – YIT acquires the Finnish operations of UMA Workspace
Launched in January, the YIT Workery+ business premises concept will expand by several locations as YIT has acquired the Finnish operations of UMA Workspace, a business established in 2016 by Technopolis. In connection with the acquisition, eight UMA employees will transfer to YIT’s Partnership Properties segment to strengthen the operations of YIT Workery+.
Of the transferring three UMA Workspaces two are in Helsinki—one above the Akateeminen Kirjakauppa bookstore on Esplanadi and another at Teurastamo in Kalasatama—and one facility at Accountor Tower in Keilaniemi, Espoo. The current services of UMA Workspace will continue as before, and the transfer of the operations will not have any impact on existing corporate customers, of which there are about 70, and their 700 employees.
“As part of our 15-minute urban strategy, we believe that services should be easily available near homes and workplaces. The working methods we have learned during the pandemic and the ‘work from anywhere’ phenomenon are here to stay, and employers have to think of ways to entice people to return to the office,” says VP Anders Stenbäck from YIT’s service development unit.
“UMA Workspace will enhance our YIT Workery+ concept, offering our customers the chance to work flexibly in a location that best serves their needs at that time. Three sets of shared premises with excellent locations will supplement the Workery+ concept launched in Vallila this spring. If the company has a roaming agreement that covers all the premises, its employees can choose any of the locations as their workspace,” says Stenbäck.
“By offering Workery+ membership, both small and large companies can ensure that their employees have a safe, ergonomic and inspiring place to work in an optimal location. This will be a competitive asset in attracting the best employees. It also allows the company to optimise the costs of its business premises,” says Outi Vaarala, Product Owner of YIT’s Workery+ concept.
Location and easy accessibility as competitive assets
The past year has forced companies to consider the post-pandemic needs of their business premises. The increase in remote work and the need for flexible spatial solutions and agreements are not going away anytime soon. In addition to functionality and comfort, employees are interested in the location of the office and its public transport connections.
The new operating environment has challenged YIT to develop the Workery+ business premises concept and become a service operator (YIT becomes a service operator for business premises | YITGROUP.COM). On the basis of the concept, the company contracts the workspaces for the desired number of employees and pays for the space according to use.
