YIT and Outokumpu to continue cooperation in Tornio plant property maintenance in Finland

YIT and Outokumpu have signed an agreement on property maintenance at the Tornio plant. Under the agreement, YIT will be responsible for the comprehensive technical property maintenance and maintenance services of the Tornio plant as well as improving the property's energy efficiency for a new three-year period.

The new agreement is an extension of the service agreement concluded in 2010. The total floor area of the property maintained by YIT is over 520,000 square metres. The agreement covers all building systems, technical building maintenance, 24/7 on-call duty and property control room services. Planned maintenance covers 1,200 equipment assemblies in all.

“We are very pleased that we reached an agreement with YIT on the maintenance of our properties. During the last three years, we have been able to improve the cost-efficiency of the maintenance of our properties and bring the maintenance up to the level of modern requirements. The key factors in our decision to continue the cooperation with YIT were our aim to improve cost efficiency further and the special aim specified for the new agreement period to improve the energy efficiency of our properties. We believe that YIT will be able to reach these targets in the future as well,” says Martti Sassi, SVP, General Stainless Mill Operations at Outokumpu’s Tornio site.

”In our cooperation, we want to introduce property maintenance solutions that will benefit Outokumpu and help to achieve more efficient use of energy and cost savings. Need-based planned maintenance and influencing the energy consumption of building systems are key tools in aiming for more cost-efficient property maintenance,” says Martti Kaikkonen, Area Director at YIT.
