YIT chosen as Espoo’s road maintenance provider
YIT and the Uusimaa Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY centre) have signed a service contract for Espoo’s road maintenance. The total value of the contract is approximately EUR 30 million and it includes over 700 kilometres of roads requiring maintenance. The contract is effective from October 2014 and the agreement has been made for five years. In the Espoo’s regional contract, a new maintenance management model will be piloted due to the project’s diversity and extremely demanding management priority classification.

For YIT the contract offers an opportunity to utilize the know-how on demanding road maintenance, and the collective decision making according to the new maintenance management model enables fluent co-operation with the customer”, saysTimo Paavilainen, Head of Unit from YIT.
”We expect that the maintenance management contract will provide us with a new, flexible operating model and rapid responses to changing situations in road maintenance. With the new method, we can ensure high-quality daily traffic flow,” says General Director Rita Piirainenfrom the Uusimaa Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment.
YIT has also been chosen as the maintenance provider for the regional contracts in Mikkeli, Salo and Kuhmo. The above-mentioned contract agreements will be signed and included in the order backlog during the third quarter of 2014 after the appeal period has expired.
