YIT’s Hack the Living jury were impressed by ideas for use of space and for making everyday life easier
YIT CORPORATION Press release, February 21, 2017, 09:00
YIT’s Hack the Living innovation competition continues to the pilot stage with two teams: Team SenIoT and Team Toughbyte.
SenIoT’s smart home solution enables the provision of various services that make life more convenient for residents, and Toughbyte’s solution focuses on repurposing and making better use of space.
YIT is implementing the ideas of the two teams as pilot projects with a budget of EUR 20,000 each.
“What impresses us in the winning projects was the added value for our customers, which in both projects was carefully thought through from start to finish. We’re confident that the solutions will help our customers in their daily lives,” says YIT’s Head of Service Business Development Arto Nieminen.
YIT launched the Hack the Living innovation competition to find new business models, services, service concepts, products and digital solutions to make everyday life and housing easier.
The construction industry is undergoing a major transition, and this can be seen in the development of housing construction in the direction of a housing business operations operations model. One consequence of this development is increasing demand for services that make everyday life easier and more convenient.
The competition was open to teams of 2–3 members – innovators, service designers, software designers, and growing companies. The competition drew 64 entries, which is the second-largest amount in the history of the Industryhack. Of these, 8 teams were selected to get a closer view of YIT’s operations. They also participated in the two-day hackathon at the end of January.
The Hack the Living jury includes growth entrepreneur Micke Nordman, Head of Segment Antti Inkilä (YIT Group, Housing Finland CEE), Senior Vice President, Housing Business Development Pekka Helin (YIT Group), growth entrepreneur and YIT board member Inka Mero , and Arto Nieminen.
The growth company Industryhack and the open innovation competitions offered by it provide a platform combining the programming community and companies. The competitions are always based on company-specific challenges, in which new technologies and ideas for agile experiments and productive business models are sought through external operators.https://industryhack.com/hacks/hacktheliving/
