The massive arcs will be transported to the centre of Helsinki in parts at night time. The construction has lasted for a year and a half, and Helsinki Central Library Oodi (Ode) is now beginning to take shape. Next week, YIT will start assembling the building’s two longitudinal steel arcs that have a length of about 100 metres. Maanrakennusliike E.M. Pekkinen was in charge of the earthworks and the basement’s concrete structure works. Upon completion, they have handed on the site to YIT who will continue with the construction work above ground.
