SANTA MONICA, CA, April 13, 2012 – Yoga mats and props bare their true selves with the release of a complete line of yoga tools made of recycled, repurposed materials, available May 1 from yogitoes. rNaked Mat is undyed, made of 25% recycled rubber and 75% virgin rubber, and is free of phthalates, heavy metals and PVC. It is part of the new rYoga Collection and industry-leading sustainability movement from yogitoes. Deeply committed to elevating the standards by which the yoga/fitness industry and community lives, yogitoes has launched a major initiative called recycle…repurpose…reborn.

The rYoga Collection is a set of inventive yoga tools made with a high composition of recycled materials, including recycled rubber, recycled plastic bottles, rice husk and recycled EVA foam, items that would otherwise occupy landfills or pollute oceans. Says yogitoes CEO Susan Nichols, “Only a small percentage of recyclable materials actually gets recycled. It is vital for the health of our planet and our children that we find creative ways to reuse and repurpose these materials, and yogitoes is excited to be part of that solution.” In addition to the new rYoga Collection coming in May, yogitoes will convert their entire yoga line to recycled materials in 2012. In addition, all dyes used by yogitoes are heavy metal and azo free, which is much better for the health of factory workers, consumers and the environment. Packaging is minimalistic and made out of recycled or FSC certified paper.

Renowned yoga teacher Briohny Smyth says of rNaked Mat, “What you practice on is a key part of your practice! I’m so excited that yogitoes has made an earth conscious mat that is functional, eco-friendly and light as a feather. We [Briohny and Dice lida-Klein] love rNaked Mat because it is dye-free, safe for our little ones to use and fully supportive yet very soft.” The new collection also includes rBlock and rDot, and tie-dyed props made from plastic bottles, including rStrapStretch and rStrapClassic, the rSweatless® hand-size towel, and rPillow, to complete ones practice.

About yogitoes

yogitoes was created in 2003, after CEO and yogini Susan Nichols slipped on her yoga mat. This inspired her to create the Skidless® towel, made with a patented design that prevents slipping. Since then, the company has continued to create intelligent products that help yoga practitioners of all levels and yoga styles deepen their practice.

Since yogitoes’ inception, the company has had a conscious approach to sustainability and mindful practices, from manufacturing to overall operations to cause involvement, and continues to be a leader in bringing this movement forward.
