3 – 6 April 2015

Artisan chocolatiers from around the city have joined forces to prepare for this year’s York Chocolate Festival, which opens tomorrow (Friday 3 April 2015).

“York is the historic home of British chocolate, with Terry’s, Rowntree & Co and Craven’s all based here at the birth of the industry, and continues to be a chocolate powerhouse today.  Nestlé still manufactures in York, and a host of independent artisan chocolatiers are now bringing brand new innovation to the city,” comments festival director, Sophie Jewett of York Cocoa House.  “The York Chocolate Festival isn’t simply about eating lots of cocoa goods, but will hopefully inspire another generation of chocolate makers, whether that means cooking with chocolate in the home, or setting up a chocolate-based business here.  And, of course, there is plenty of delicious chocolate to be consumed, too!”

The centrepiece of the Festival will be Parliament Street, which hosts the Chocolate Fair, featuring workshops and demonstrations throughout the four days of the Easter Weekend, with events and workshops also taking place at York Cocoa House, York’s CHOCOLATE Story, Goddard’s, York Dungeon, JORVIK Viking Centre, York Castle Museum, Yorkshire Museum, Treasurer’s House and even including chocolate-themed walks around the city centre.

More details on the full York Chocolate Festival 2015 programme, including how to book individual events, will be available online at www.yorkchocolatefestival.co.uk
