Online demand already high for York Minster's Christmas Carol Concerts

Booking opens 9.30am on Wednesday 11 September 2013

Tickets might not go on sale until tomorrow morning (Wednesday 11 September), but York Minster’s website is already humming with interest with over 2000 visitors clicking through for more details about the Christmas Carol Concerts, taking place on 5 and 6 December 2013.

“Buying tickets through the website is now the most popular way of purchasing tickets, and given that the best seats in the house – the front Nave – usually sell out within a day, we are seeing a real flurry of visits and logging in from those who want to make sure they can book as soon as we open for sales,” comments events officer, Rosanna Leithall.  “We do recommend that people get their accounts set up early, as this speeds up the transaction process. Since Saturday we’ve had more than 350 people clicking through to verify that they know their usernames and passwords, ready to log in when the tickets go on sale tomorrow.”

The Christmas Carol Concerts are the first of a busy programme of events at York Minster during the festive season and offer audiences the chance to listen to a traditional brass band, hear seasonal music sung by the York Minster Choir, and join in with well-known Christmas carols.  Celebrity readers add to the sense of occasion.

As well as the two carol concerts, visitors to York Minster during December can enjoy a packed programme of events, services and activities, including a performance of Handel’s Messiah by the York Minster Choir with high-profile guest soloists Iestyn Davies, Andrew Kennedy and Sarah Fox on 14 December, the candlelit Advent Procession on 1 December, and festive craft workshops for all ages on Saturdays 7, 14 and 21 December.
