The York Minster Works Department are once again very grateful for the support of the Rotary Club of York Vikings who have provided funding on a number of occasions for apprentice tools.

On Wednesday 2ndNovember, Martin Kirby, President of the Rotary Club of York Vikings presented a cheque for £500 to Rebecca Thompson, Superintendent of Works at the Masons’ Lodge at York Minster.  Some of the apprentices were in attendance to acknowledge their appreciation.  The tool kit is an essential part of the craft skill and is treasured by the apprentice.  Tools are expensive and a wide variety of tools are required for the essential restoration works on the Minster.

Martin Kirby, President said “The aim of the Rotary Club of York Vikings is to support local, national and international organisations, particularly people in need of assistance with a special focus on young people in terms of their personal development and gaining a craft skill.  The Rotary Club of York Vikings raise over £30k per year for charity through various initiatives.   We are very proud of the support that we provide locally, nationally and internationally, and very pleased to be associated with the works and apprentices at York Minster.”
