York Minster Choir's new CD is a 'Classic' hit!

The new CD by the choir of York Minster, A York Yuletide, is hitting all the right notes with the UK’s most popular classical music station, Classic FM. Tracks from the disc are already being played on air and the whole recording will be the Featured Album on Classic FM Drive next week (21-23 December).

“This is a superb accolade at the end of a fantastic year – we’re absolutely delighted that Classic FM has chosen our music to join their Christmas playlist,” comments Robert Sharpe, director of music for York Minster.  “We are very proud of this album, which brings together a fantastic mix of traditional and new music that has been performed by the choir over the last couple of years, and it is wonderful to think that our talented musicians will be heard by Classic FM’s 5.5 million listeners across the country over the next couple of weeks.”

To hear the music played on air, tune in to Classic FM Drive, hosted by John Brunning, from 5pm Monday to Wednesday next week (21-23 December). Classic FM is available across the UK on 100-102 FM, digital radio, at classicfm.com and on the Classic FM app. The CD featuring 19 festive tracks is available from the York Minster gift shop, priced at just £10.  The CD can also be purchased online at www.yorkminster.org/shop

“We expect that many families will be sitting down to Christmas dinner with this CD playing in the background – it is the perfect gift!” adds Robert.
