A Noah’s Ark of animals, plenty of hands-on fun activities and appearances by Peppa Pig, the popular children’s TV character, are all included in a new event to be held next Sunday (13 April) at the Great Yorkshire Showground.

Organised by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, Springtime Live is aimed particularly at families and combines entertainment with the chance to learn more about the countryside and farming. The Society is best known as the organiser of the annual Great Yorkshire Show.

Youngsters will be able to see a host of animals, including lambs, goslings, chicks, piglets, ponies, dogs and calves. The programme includes chocolate making, the chance to learn circus skills, bread-making, sand art and there is a full stage programme organized by Make a Wish Entertainment.

An innovative approach to music making will be given by organisers of Music in the Woods, who will use a range of drums and the acoustics of the nearby woodlands to create sounds. There will also be a climbing wall and inflatable assault course, courtesy of the army, an Easter egg hunt and pony rides.

Chief Executive Nigel Pulling said: “It’s always exciting to be organizing something new, and Springtime Live certainly seems to have taken off. The tickets are proving extremely popular and it has already drawn interest from exhibitors keen to take part. In all there are around 60 different activities- it’s a good value day out particularly as once you are on site, activities are free.”
