Fun and Farming at Countryside Live 2015

The Yorkshire Agricultural Society's flagship autumn event, Countryside Live is on the horizon and promises to justify its reputation as a fun day out for all the family, as well as giving an insight into farming and rural life.

Dates are Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October when thousands of visitors are expected at the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate to see an extensive range of competitive classes, demonstrations of country skills and hands-on activities for all ages. The event is the ‘little sister’ of the annual Great Yorkshire Show.

This will be the 13th Countryside Live and entries are already coming in for the various sections - cattle, sheep, equine, poultry, pigeons, horticulture and honey. And the popular Search for a Talented Show Jumper competition will again feature, hosted by Olympic experts, Graham and Tina Fletcher.  Also on the equine timetable is the Northern Show Cross Series Final which will again take place in the iconic Main Ring.

Around the event attractions include:     

  • ‘Bjorn the Polar Bear’ makes his debut
  • Pony Rides
  • Have a Go Archery
  • Children's Area: ‘Create and Explore’ with everything from breadmaking to willow weaving
  • Diggerland
  • Dog Agility Displays
  • The Sheep Show
  • Ferret Racing
  • Birds of Prey Demonstrations
  • And dozens of trade stands with everything from jewellery to regional food and drink

The Great Yorkshire Show and its sister event Countryside Live, are organised by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society as part of its year round work supporting and promoting the farming and rural industry. Next year will be the 158th Great Yorkshire Show, and dates are Tuesday 12 – Thursday 14 July. Countryside Live, the Society’s autumn event takes place on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October, 2015.
