Media Opportunities for Press Preview Day

On arrival, please report to the Press Pavilion, 3rd Avenue, Great Yorkshire Showground. The Press Pavilion is next to the Yellow Car Park, off Wetherby Road, Harrogate. Press releases re the various opportunities below will be available on the day.

Please note, admittance tickets and car labels are not needed on Monday.

Timetable

10 am A team of Icelandic sheep shearers are competing at the Great Yorkshire Show for the first time. The shearers, two men and a woman, arrive at the showground on Monday and will be at the Sheep Shearing area for photos and interview opportunities.

11am Honorary Show Director Bill Cowling and artist Ruth Fitton meet to hang his new portrait in the President’s Pavilion. Ruth, from Leeds, was commissioned by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society to paint the portrait to mark Bill stepping down from his role after 10 years.

1.30pm Garments designed by students at Sheffield Hallam University being unveiled for first time at the Great Yorkshire Show in preparation for their debut on the catwalk in the Skipton Building Society Fashion Pavilion.

Honorary Show Director Bill Cowling and Yorkshire Agricultural Society Chief Executive Nigel Pulling will be available for interviews.

General shots of pre-show preparations on the 250-acre showground including exhibitors preparing their sheep, cattle and pigs, hedge trimming, grass cutting and watering.
