Below is a statement from the Yorkshire Agricultural Society which brings to a conclusion its investigations into alleged cattle tampering at last year’s Great Yorkshire Show. No further media statements will be made.

Nigel Pulling, Chief Executive of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society said: “The outstanding issue relating to allegations of tampering with dairy cattle at the 2013 Great Yorkshire Show has been resolved. The Exhibitors concerned have withdrawn their Appeals. By mutual consent, they will not be exhibiting at any future Great Yorkshire Shows.”

YORKSHIRE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY: 

The Yorkshire Agricultural Society was formed in 1837 and is a charity dedicated to supporting the farming industry and rural life. This ranges from educational initiatives to the Society’s Nuffield Scholarships to hosting the Yorkshire Rural Support Network. The Society is the organiser of the annual farming and country showcase, the Great Yorkshire Show and its sister event, Countryside Live. The Great Yorkshire Show is England’s premier agricultural event attracting more than 130,000 visitors over the three days.  Both events take place at the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate, North Yorkshire and are flagship events for agriculture and rural life.
