You Smell soap makes debut on ABC’s ‘Shark Tank’
First to bring paper soap to the U.S.
SAN FRANCISCO, JAN. 25, 2012— You Smell will make its worldwide debut on Friday, February 3 at 8p.m. EST, on ABC’s “Shark Tank.” The company will launch with its signature line of all-natural, luxury bar and paper soaps. You Smell is the first company to bring paper soap—wildly popular in Asia—to the U.S. and is accepting pre-orders on yousmellsoap.com.
“Right now you have to choose between a luxury item, or one with a personality,” said You Smell founder Megan Cummins. “We didn’t think it had to be that way—people are more complex than that. Now that we have the ability to make products any way we want, we’re going all out. Our rule of thumb is, if there’s any other product out there we’d rather be using, ours isn’t good enough.”
You Smell soaps feature natural, top-tier ingredients like olive oil, avocado oil, shea butter, tea tree oil and glycerine—often removed by manufacturers to sell for profit—that create a creamy, naturally restorative lather. Every You Smell product is free of fillers, phthalates and parabens.
You Smell originated in a classroom as part of a senior-year graphic design project in college. Cummins had the opportunity to make anything she wanted—to go crazy and develop a brand that would sing everything she loved. It spread virally on design blogs before landing major press in Allure, The Sunday Times and Tatler.
Determined to make You Smell a reality, Cummins went into business for herself, designing on the side and investing all her time and money in You Smell when Shark Tank called. The hit TV show puts entrepreneurs in front of investors for a chance to pitch their idea and secure financing to bring their product to market. Watch the outcome unfold on ABC at 8 p.m. EST, one Friday, February 3 and see if You Smell will be the next big thing.
Mark Burnett, Clay Newbill and Phil Gurin are the executive producers of “Shark Tank,” based on the Japanese “Dragons’ Den” format created by Nippon Television Network Corporation. The series is from Sony Pictures Television.
