LaTangela Newsome and Angelique Bates talk about new Christmas single on Art is Alive Podcast

If you grew up in the 90s and 00s you might recognize Angelique Bates and LaTangela Newsome from their respective hit shows on Nickelodeon ''All That'' and ''Taina''. After years of various projects in acting and music, they've released an R&B Christmas single cheerfully called Jolly Holiday. Last Friday on the podcast Art is Alive, they told host Gustav ''Zeventine'' Elfström all about it.

While waiting for Angelique Bates in Los Angeles to join the Zoom call, Stockholm Sweden based Gustav ''Zeventine'' Elfström for Art is Alive is talking to LaTangela Newsome. Behind her is a Christmas tree and beside it lays a copy of Whitney Houston's soundtrack for The Bodyguard. ''I love 90s R&B'' she exclaims later as Angelique joins the call. She continues to show off the tree and the merch for her single Jolly Holiday. Jolly Holiday is a bold nostalgic time capsule of an R&B Christmas single she made together with Angelique and their friend Leon ''LeeBoy'' Frierson, all of whom have a history of starring in TV shows on Nickelodeon back in the 90s and 00s. Jolly Holiday is paying an homage to TLC's 1993 Christmas hit Sleigh Ride and when Angelique Bates agreed to rap on it, she thought it was perfect as the 90s girl group sang the theme song for her show All That.

Thanks to the interview, a day after it publishes it goes viral on the podcast app Goodpods, taking New York Times' Popcast's 5th place spot on the Music Interviews top list. The interview is available to stream wherever one finds podcasts i.e Spotify here and Apple Podcasts here. Jolly Holiday is available to stream on all platforms here.
