British Universities & Colleges Sport are the national governing body for Higher Education sport in the UK. Our aim is to enhance the student experience through sport. As well as delivering competitive sports opportunities in 51 sports to students from 160+ universities, we work with national partners on the development of HE sport and provide international representation opportunities.

Sport England to help broaden university sport offering

Sport England is to help universities encourage more students to play sport, thanks to £15 million of National Lottery funding.The £15 million University Sport Activation Fund recognises the key role that universities play in creating a sporting habit for life amongst students. Currently around half (52 per cent) of higher education students take part in sport at least once a week. The fund will support projects designed to increase this number by trialling new methods of getting students into sport, particularly those that do not currently play any sport.
