Apria Healthcare, America's leading provider of integrated home healthcare products and services, to start using Mölnlycke Health Care’s Safetac® technology and Avance® Negative Pressure Wound Therapy system across the US.

Mölnlycke Health Care, a world-leading provider of single-use surgical and wound care products, is pleased to announce a landmark agreement with Apria Healthcare, America's leading provider of integrated home healthcare products and services. Apria has decided to use Mölnlycke’s Safetac® technology and Avance® Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) to help patients effectively transition from the hospital environment to the home.

The Safetac® technology combined with the Avance® NPWT provided by Mölnlycke will benefit patients by minimizing skin reactions and pain during dressing removal, thereby improving overall patient comfort. Adhering effectively, this technology limits the spreading of the wound exudate, yet it is removed with minimal skin stripping and pain.

Apria Healthcare, with the largest network of commercial insurance contracts of any home care provider, will have a dedicated support team in place – with a 24 hour hotline supported by Mölnlycke Health Care. In addition, Mölnlycke Health Care’s innovative solution will be available for local delivery from one of Apria’s 370 branches, focused on same-day delivery.

The Avance® Flex Negative Pressure system which will be available to Apria’s Home Care patients is designed to be easy to use, lightweight and operate very quietly, offering a clinically proven, cost-effective solution for the treatment of many wounds. The Avance® Flex system will be complemented by the Avance® Max system which will be supplied directly to US Hospitals and promoted by Mölnlycke Health Care.Richard Twomey, CEO of Mölnlycke Health Care, comments:

“Hundreds of thousands of patients receive Negative Pressure Therapy per year in the US alone. Our innovative products are clinically proven to reduce pain at dressing change, and thanks to the partnership with Apria, we can now help improve overall comfort for patients in Apria’s expansive national home distribution network. At Mölnlycke Health Care we seek to be the preferred wound care supplier along the continuum of care, and this arrangement marks another step on that journey. We see great potential with negative pressure wound therapy in the US going forward.”

Dan Starck, CEO of Apria Healthcare comments:

“Our partnership with Mölnlycke Health Care is consistent with our focus on providing a positive patient experience throughout the continuum of care, from hospital to home. A dressing that damages a wound will not support healing, but lead to pain and physiological stress reactions. Thanks to clinically proven Safetac®, we can promote healing with less pain and stress at dressing changes.
