The Swedish Steel Prize is awarded for innovative design using high strength steel. The purpose of the prize is to inspire and spread knowledge regarding high strength steel and the possibilities to develop lighter, safer and more environmentally friendly products.

The application period for the 2013 Swedish Steel Prize has now begun, and the final day for applications is August 15. The winner will be announced in November, in conjunction with a ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden. The prize amount is SEK 100,000.

“We are looking forward to receiving many exciting applications for this year's competition,” says Melker Jernberg, Head of Business Area SSAB EMEA and Jury Chairman for the Swedish Steel Prize.

“When we judge the applications, we in the jury base our decision on a number of important criteria such as applicability, profitability, sustainability, performance , innovation and competitiveness,” explains Jernberg.
