AXA Group has decreased its shareholding in Stora Enso

STORA ENSO OYJ STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 25 March 2009 at 11.00 GMT                

Stora Enso Oyj was informed today 25 March 2009 that the number of shares in the
Company held by AXA S.A. and its subsidiaries (AXA Group) (trade register no.   
572 093 920 RCS Paris) has decreased below 5% of the of the paid-up share       
capital and the number of shares in Stora Enso Oyj on 19 March 2009.            

With reference to Chapter 2, paragraph 10 of the Finnish Securities Markets Act,
Stora Enso Oyj is reporting that as of 19 March 2009 the shareholding of AXA    
Group is as follows:
