Associate Professor Pål Börjesson receives Volvo scholarship

Today, April 7, the Håkan Frisinger Foundation for Transportation Research is awarding its scholarship for 2008 to Associate Professor Pål Börjesson at Lund University. The scholarship, amounting to SEK 250,000, is awarded to Pål Börjesson for his research within the area of systems studies of bioenergy and biofuels, as well as spreading knowledge and cooperation with decision-makers in society and the business community.

Pål Börjesson’s research deals with the role of biomass in a long-term sustainable energy system, with focus on energy efficiency, cost efficiency and environmental impact. His research includes scenarios for future production and use of bioenergy as well as an analysis of the incentives for and obstacles to the use of various bioenergy systems. In recent years, Pål Börjesson’s research has primarily dealt with biofuel systems for the transport sector.

Nominations to receive the Frisinger Scholarship are made by the Chalmers University of Technology in accordance with an agreement between Chalmers and the Volvo Research and Educational Foundations (VREF). The decision to award the scholarship is made by VREF’s Board of Directors.

The prize is being awarded by the Håkan Frisinger Foundation at a ceremony held at AB Volvo on April 7, 2009. Håkan Frisinger was President of Volvo 1983-1987 and Board Chairman 1997-1999.
