AcadeMedia acquires Changemaker Educations AB and continue the expansion within game education

AcadeMedia has entered into an agreement to acquire all shares in Changemaker Education AB for SEK 60 million. The company, which run Futuregames, has consistently ranked as one of the best game educations in the world for the past 25 years. AcadeMedia already run game educations through The Game Assembly. With the acquisition, AcadeMedia continue the expansion within game education. Changemaker Educations AB had a turnover in 2021 of approximately SEK 64 million and an EBIT of approximately SEK 10 million. The company has a clear international expansion plan.

The acquisition in brief

  • The preliminary purchase price for Changemaker Educations AB amounts to SEK 60 million and the transaction has a cash and debt-free value (Enterprise Value) of SEK 55 million.
  • The acquisition is expected to be completed during the first quarter of the 2022/23 fiscal year and will be included in the Adult Education Segment.
  • The seller is Changemaker AB.
  • AcadeMedia believe that there is potential to develop the business, especially internationally. During 2021, Changemaker Educations AB had a turnover of approximately SEK 64 million and an EBIT of approximately SEK 10 million.

Facts about Futuregames

Futuregames has consistently ranked as one of the best game educations in the world for the past 25 years. The courses are developed in close collaboration with leading game studios and today 14% of professionals working in the Swedish games industry have studied at Futuregames. The company has about 50 employees and the programmes are run both online and in Boden, Karlstad, Skellefteå and Stockholm. The education offering include both short courses for professionals and long programmes for game developers who has just started in the industry. All courses are post upper secondary school.

Facts about AcadeMedia´s existing game educations

AcadeMedia’s existing offering of game educations include the top ranked school The Game Assembly and 18 upper secondary school within LBS Kreativa Gymnasiet. This means that AcadeMedia already is an important player when it comes to providing the game industry with skilled labour. During the autumn 2022, The Game Assembly will expand its business to UK.
