AcadeMedia plans for more openings in Germany - approaching the target of 10,000 pre-school places

AcadeMedia has decided to open 600 additional preschool places in Germany. This means that AcadeMedia now has approved new openings corresponding to around 2,000 preschool places in regions where demand is high. Once the preschools are open, AcadeMedia will have more than 10’000 preschool places.

Today, AcadeMedia has 98 preschools with more than 8,000 preschool places in Germany. Since AcadeMedia entered Germany in 2017, the expansion plan has had a clear focus on organic growth with 10-15 new openings per year. With the approved new starts, corresponding to around 2,000 preschool places, AcadeMedia will have more than 10,000 preschool places in Germany once opened. The new pre-school places will be opened over the next three years. An important milestone in this is the establishment of AcadeMedia's 100th preschool, expected to open in spring 2025.

As previously communicated, the target for new preschools in Germany in the financial year 2024/25 was eight units. That plan remains.

Germany continues to have a strong need for preschool education. Currently, there is a shortage of roughly 300,000 places. The availability of preschool places has a significant impact on both the labour market and gender equality in the country.

-     We see a great need for more preschool places in Germany, and our expansion is part of the solution. Reaching 10,000 places is an important milestone that demonstrates our ability to grow sustainably and meet societal needs, says Marcus Strömberg, CEO of AcadeMedia.
