London, UK –30 May 2013 – SaaS-based workforce management solution PeoplePlanner has been acquired by business software provider, Access Group (Access). With more than 35,000 subscribers, PeoplePlanner has gained a strong foothold in the domiciliary care marketplace since its launch in 2006.

Following acquisition, the solution is being integrated into Access’ aCloud business management platform, bringing the total number of subscribers to more than 79,000. It will also be rapidly expanding into the facilities management, security and manned guarding markets, where PeoplePlanner has already gained traction with names like Corps Security.  City and County Health Care, the fourth largest provider of domiciliary health care in the UK, has also been a longstanding customer.

Chris Bayne, CEO for Access Group, commented, “With the addition of PeoplePlanner to our portfolio, we’ll be able to offer a complete financial, HR, payroll and workforce management system to larger SME customers whose business is based on billing for staff services. By automating many of their business processes we can help them considerably reduce their costs and improve the overall efficiency of their operations.

“For the smaller SME and current customers of PeoplePlanner, they’ll benefit from the software’s continued development and be able to access other elements of our portfolio such as expenses and absence management. This is an important acquisition for us and with our combined expertise we’ll be able to add real value in the marketplace at various price points.”

The solution provides customers with an easy to deploy system that is simple to use to manage its services, replacing manual processes. It also includes exception based workforce planning and highly configurable process management such as staff rotas, contract and service management.

Ian McMullon, founder of PeoplePlanner, has a strong background in facilities management with the likes of Rentokil, where he was responsible for developing software solutions which are still in use today. He commented, “My passion as an entrepreneur and developer is creating software that has a major positive impact on the businesses it serves.

“With Access we’ll now be able to leverage the resources of a larger company to take PeoplePlanner to the next level which is set to benefit both new and existing customers alike.”

Chris continued, “Ian and the team at PeoplePlanner have exceptional experience in domiciliary care, facilities management and manned guarding; Ian will be the driving force behind the future development of PeoplePlanner, increasing organic growth and having strategic input into its integration with the aCloud platform.

“Acquiring businesses is about the people as well as the software. Ian will add real value to our team and the on-going development of Access’s SaaS products. We’re delighted that he’s joining us and look forward to working together. It’s a perfect fit all round both from a business perspective and for our respective customer bases.”
