Access Technology Group extends reach in leisure with acquisition of visitor attraction specialists Gamma Dataware

Access Technology Group (Access), the midmarket software provider, has acquired Gamma Dataware, the specialists in integrated leisure solutions including admissions, ticketing, ePos and bookings. The acquisition supports Access’ ongoing strategy of offering integrated business solutions to the midmarket.

Gamma Dataware provide a range of integrated software modules for the visitor attraction, museum, heritage and tourism industries. When combined, the individual modules create a complete end-to-end solution – from ticketing and admissions to retail and catering POS, and from stock control and bookings to back office reporting.

Chris Bayne, CEO at Access, said, “We’re now be able to offer a complete solution to museums, galleries, zoos, festivals, and local theatre. With the ticketing component Access will have one of the most comprehensive venue solutions available in the UK. Gamma will complement our existing finance, HR and membership solutions enabling us to offer a more complete package to existing and future customers.”

Access already has an established customer base in the leisure sector including the Natural History Museum, The Scottish Ballet, Leicester Tigers, and The Belfry, while Gamma Dataware has over 100 customers including The Beatles Museum, Scotch Malt Whiskey Society, Beaulieu Enterprises, and St Paul’s Cathedral. “Gamma and Access complement each other’s solutions perfectly, we’ve previously worked together and have been very impressed with their level of expertise and the products that they offer, it’s a great move for us to add their technology to the Access product portfolio,” continued Chris.

Peter Ferguson, managing director of Gamma, said, “By joining Access we’re able to share knowledge and offer our customers a wider product portfolio, helping them gain increased efficiencies through an integrated solution.”

Access’ business software portfolio has a history of improving its customer’s processes throughout the organisation putting the business in a position to grow. The acquisition will allow Access to leverage the joint Gamma and Access brands to the benefit of all customers. The company’s aim is to provide solutions that meet the needs of the whole organisation, delivering full transparency and visibility of information across every department. Access is providing an even greater offering to the growing customer base, helping them take a joined-up approach to their business operations.

Customers currently being served by Gamma Dataware will see their existing close working relationships further strengthened and supported by Access, a company that has been on a path of accelerated growth since its Lyceum-Capital backed management buyout in 2011. The deal forms part of Access’ business plan to continue its growth both organically and through continued acquisitions. A combination of further in-house R&D and strategic acquisitions will continue in the coming year.
